Domaine Les Fusionels

Arielle Demets grew up in the heart of the Côte des Bar (in Champagne), nurtured by the rhythm of the 4 wine growing seasons. Her adolescence was spent in the vineyards and was deeply influenced by her parents’ and grandparents’ strong attachment to the land and their respect for their terroir and winemaking traditions. In 2003, having completed a degree in viticulture and oenology, she began putting her skills to practice at the family domaine. It appeared that her destiny was already mapped out, and yet the desire to create her own domaine where she could use her expertise and produce wines that reflected her personality, persisted. In 2007, Arielle 6 ha of vines from a local wine growing couple who were ready to retire. The vines are located in the far north of the appellation, at 350 metres altitude between Cabrerolles and the hamlet of Aigues-vives. These small parcels cover just a few ares of land and are scattered amongst the woods at the foot of the Pic de la Coquillade which overlooks the vineyards at an altitude of 696 metres and proudly faces the Mediterranean. The domaine has gradually grown in size to cover a few hectares in Faugères and Caussiniojouls. Starting with the 2017 vintage, the wines will be certified organic.

Domaine Les Fusionels Le Rêve Faugères Rouge

Syrah is a fragile varietal and not well-suited to dry weather conditions. Its long shoots offer little resistance to the wind. The parcels are often short pruned or cultivated using the cordon de royal method and planted in areas that are well-protected from the wind. The Syrah varietal produces medium-sized grapes with an attractive bluish-black colour, and sweet, spicy juices. Grenache offers an explosion of fruity aromas and Carignan brings a nice touch of freshness to the wine.

Grapes: 60% Syrah, 30% Grenache, 10% Carignan // The wines are certified organic from the 2017 vintage.
Winemaking: Immersion of the cap through daily manual cap punching. Maceration : 15 to 20 days. 40% of the blend is aged in Burgundy barrels.
Production : 30,000 bottles

Nose: Develops floral notes (violet, thyme blossom), ripe fruits (sour cherry, raspberry) and roasted aromas
